The pages for each country form the core of the information in BioPolicyWiki. These follow a particular format in two key regards.

[edit] Initial policy summary template

First, the some basic data regarding the country and its policies is in a special form at the start of each page. Please be careful when editing this. The only words that should be edited here are those after the equals sign (=) on each line. These are the values that are compiled into tables for each practice, international agreement, and region. The possible values should be limited to those listed in the key for each practice.

{{Infobox Country
|name = Name of the Country
|Region                         = Region_name
|image_flag                     = Filename_of_flag.png
|Population                     = 123,456,789

<!-- summaries of policies -->

|Eggs for assisted reproduction = policy_status
|Eggs for research  	        = policy_status
|IGM  	  	                = policy_status
|PGD  	  	                = policy_status
|Reproductive cloning  	        = policy_status
|Research cloning  	        = policy_status
|Sex selection                  = policy_status
|Surrogacy  	  	        = policy_status

<!-- international agreements -->

|UN vote                        = vote
|COE Convention                 = treaty_status
|COE Cloning  	                = treaty_status
|Treaty of Lisbon               = treaty_status
}}

After making any edits to the summary box, it is a good idea to refresh any page that uses that new information. Go the appropriate region, practice or international agreement, as well as the practice or international agreement summary page. On each, click the "refresh" tab found near the top to update the data.

[edit] Headings

Second, the narrative text of each country should follow the same outline, using the top-level headings described below. If there is not yet any content for the sections, the headings should already be provided in the editing box. However, this text will need to be made visible by moving from inside to outside of the hidden area, which is denoted by <!-- hidden text -->:

== This heading is not hidden ==

<!--
== These headings ==

== are hidden ==
-->

If you wish to add content to such a hidden heading, just move it to outside the <!-- hidden text -->: brackets.

  • References: This section should consist solely of
    <references/>
